CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP 2010
Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre has built a reputation for
producing engaging, artistic shows of rare versatility &
polish since 1986. The company has sold out its last four productions
to a diverse, enthusiastic audience in Vancouver.
Since its theatrical debut in 2006, the Café de Chinitas has made a big splash with the press, earning it “Best Merging of Cultures” by the Georgia Straight and “Top 10 Things to Do” by TV Week magazine.
This year,
we are seeking corporate sponsors to help fund
our newest production, Viñetas del Mozaico. Viñetas del Mozaico features a dozen colourful and imaginative dance vignettes. The dates are November 12, 13, 14, 2010 at the Scotiabank Dance Centre Faris Studio. Funds will
be used towards production & administrative costs.

2010 Café de Chinitas
Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre & The Orchid Ensemble
explore the art of Flamenco dance with the sounds of Chinese
traditional instruments in an innovative, contemporary fusion.
‘East meets West’ as gold embroidered cheong sams
& the tinkling of the Chinese Zheng blend with the powerful
strumming of Flamenco guitar, crackling hand claps & fiery
footwork.
Immortalized in the Spanish poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca,
“Café de Chinitas” or “Chinese Café”
was a classic singing coffee shop in Malaga in the mid 18th
century. During this era of extensive Spanish-Orient trade,
Asian women used to frequent this Café & were commonly
known as “chinitas”.
Residing in Vancouver with company members of Asian descent,
how fitting that Mozaico Flamenco embark on a journey to explore
Chinese-Spanish music, art & dance in Café de Chinitas!
This has never been done in Flamenco before. It is truly original
for the art form & extremely relevant for Mozaico Flamenco
&the City of Vancouver. Mozaico Flamenco represents Canadian
multiculturalism as our diverse backgrounds include Chinese,
Filipino, English, Mexican and Spanish nationality.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting the Artistic
Community and contributing to the cultural harmony of the
City of Vancouver.
