Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy is pleased to present
two weekend workshops in September and November 2005.
Spaces in the workshop are filling up quickly, so register
now to avoid disappointment!
SEPTEMBER 9, 10, 11
In September, we start the term off with a bang with
a special weekend workshop by Timo Lozano! The legendary
Timo Lozano has been dubbed "The King of Bulerias"
by many. He will be teaching a bulerias workshop for
cajon (percussion) and also intermediate dance. Timo
has extensive experience as a dancer, performer and
teacher. Timo danced with Oscar Nieto in the 1970s in
the Jose Greco Sr. Dance Company for 11 years. He also
performed with the National Ballet of Spain, Rafael
de Cordova, Ciro, Pilar Lopez, Maria Benitez and Lucia
y Valdemar Gitanerias Company. He has taught flamenco
dance at Amor de Dios in Madrid, Germany, Rome, Switzerland,
Israel, and the USA. This is his first trip to Vancouver.
We encourage all intermediate and advanced students
to experience a touch of Spain as he teaches perhaps
the most difficult of all song forms, Bulerias. Don¡¯t
miss this rare opportunity!
If you wish to take the cajon/percussion workshop but
do not have your own instrument, feel free to come to
the class anyway. We will share instruments.
NOVEMBER 19, 20
Have you always wanted to take a flamenco dance class?
Have you been putting it off for weeks, months and years?
Now¡¯s your chance! In November, our own Kasandra aka
¡°Flamenco Momma¡± will welcome newcomers to the arte
of flamenco in an ¡°Introduction to Flamenco¡± weekend.
This workshop is for newcomers who have never done any
flamenco before. No previous dance experience is necessary.
The workshop will introduce basic flamenco marking
steps in 4/4, arm movement, coordination with legs and
some basic footwork. In addition, the class will integrate
music, song and palmas (handclapping). Each day is different
so you can take classes on both days or just join one.
