New Introduction to Flamenco Dance Classes start in January 2008!

Join us for some exercise, coordination, duende and fun!

Have you been in love with Flamenco since your last trip to Spain?

Have you thought about taking Flamenco dance lessons for a few years but just never acted on it?

Join us for a fresh session of fiery flamenco and sign up for Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy's “Introduction to Flamenco Dance Classes” starting January 12, 2008!

Three courses are available.  Choose a day that fits your schedule:

Saturday 2:00-3:30pm with Kasandra La China.

Starts January 12 to February 23, 7 consecutive classes for $140.

Sunday 10:30am-12:00pm with Andrea Williams.

Starts January 13 to February 24, 7 consecutive classes for $140.

Wednesday 7:30-9:00pm with Oscar Nieto.

Starts January 16 to March 5, 8 consecutive classes for $160.

Newcomers are welcome!   These classes do not require any previous experience!  Each course integrates song, music, guitar and flamenco dance.

The fees listed are for a session of consecutive classes in January and February.   A session is recommended because it takes time to repeat
movements, as your body is learning new muscle memory.  We will be focusing on overall coordination, technique and dance movement.  If you wish to drop in and try one class, you can do so at $25/class.

Payment Schedule

January –February 2008 (7 classes)

March – April 2008        (8 classes)

May – June 2008            (8 classes)

Shoes

Flamenco shoes are recommended, but not required, for the introduction-level course.   For your first few classes, you can wear regular street shoes, character/ballroom/tap shoes if you have them from previous dance, or else just simple comfortable shoes that you can wear for 90 minutes.  Do not wear sandals, stilettos, or flip flops, as they will either hurt your feet or they will fly off your feet when you do footwork.  When you decide you are serious about Flamenco, flamenco shoes can be purchased from Edie Hats on Granville Island for $200.  Please note that there is an approximately 6 week leadtime to order your custom shoes.  Visit www.ediehats.com.

Clothes

Students should wear comfortable clothes such as yoga pants or wide skirt, and t-shirt, tank top or leotard.  Flamenco skirts can be purchased at Avalon Dance Shop (Main and 30th) or The Dance Shop (W. Broadway and Granville).
