Sing Bulerias & Tangos Por Fiesta
Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy is very pleased to welcome cantaora, Keiko Ooka, back to Vancouver to teach us to sing Bulerias and Tangos por Fiesta! Keiko sang for Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre's "Cafe de Chinitas" production in 2006 and we sure are glad to have her back to teach! We've missed her detailed, thorough breakdown! Her teaching methodology includes vocal exercises, note to note analysis, rhythmic analysis of limited verses, solid compas and plenty of repetition so that students can sing once she leaves.
For dancers, studying the cante is important because choreography and improvisation is based on the cante form. This is a rare opportunity to study the cante with a cante teacher able to break down melody and compas!

Keiko has immersed herself in the Flamenco world, living in Madrid, Spain for the last ten years. She has studied cante flamenco with Talegon de Cordoba, Julian Rodriguez and Rafael Jimenez "El Falo" in Madrid. She participated in the flamenco cante competition "Silla de Oro" in 2001 and performed in Joaquin Ruiz´s "Reencuentro" at Teatro Pradillo in 2002. She has appeared with the dance company "Flamencos en route" in Switzerland, the dance festival Bolzano Danza in Italy and the dance company "Esencia Flamenca" in Madrid for the last 4 years. In Summer 2006, she sang in the national flamenco singing competition "Villa de Guadamur", accompanied by David Serva.

Bulerias: 6:00-7:30pm Thurs/Fri, 3:30-5:00pm Sat
Tangos: 7:30-9:00pm Thurs/Fri, 5:00-6:30pm Sat
Cost: 3 days $100 per course.
10% discount for both courses.
$40 drop in
