March 6, 2009
West Vancouver , BC
On the eve of March 6, the Peña Bulería Flamenco Club of Vancouver lights up the Kay Meek Centre stage with "Mezquita", a Tale of 1001 Flamenco Nights. The artists promise to set the stage on fire with dazzling footwork, intricate guitar playing, and the haunting voices which have been resonating through the passages of time, evoking the desperation of a people for centuries. This event features world-class guest artists direct from Spain and France and is the one event you won't want to miss this Spring!
Featured in this show is Mozaico Flamenco's Kasandra La China, dance soloist, along side with international flamenco guest artists Cristo Cortes (singer), Manuel Guiterrez (dancer), Jose Vega (guitarist) and Vancouver's own Pirouz de Caspio (singer and Peña Bulería producer). "I am thrilled to have this rare opportunity to perform with international calibre artists. Thank you to Pena Buleria for inviting me to perform in this cuadro," exclaims Kasandra La China.

"Mezquita" (originally the "Aljama Mosque"), was built by the Moors in Cordoba, Spain over 1200 years ago. This event promises an explosive program of authentic flamenco music, song and dance demonstrating the direct influences of Persian and Arabic cultures on the art form.
