What's Happening at Mozaico Flamenco in April?


NEW SPRING TERM BEGINS IN APRIL!

 

Join us for a new spring term at Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy.  Most classes are accepting new students at this time, as we prepare new choreography from April to end June. 

If you have friends that want to join flamenco for the first time, now is the time to join our NEW introduction to flamenco classes.   Check out classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays with Andrea Williams and Michelle Harding.  More info.

Multicultural Music Festival in Port Moody

 

Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre’s Kasandra “La China” and Andrea Williams will be performing solos for the Hope For Freedom Society, an organization that benefits the homeless people.  We will be one of many multicultural dance, music and entertainment groups that will perform in this festival at the Port Moody Inlet Theatre on April 2 at 7pm.  Tickets $10. Join Kasandra La China for a wonderful, integrated dance and music class, including live guitarist Gerardo Alcala and guest musicians.  So far we have choreographed an entrada, letra and desplante, but these next two classes we will finish the whole choreography and start our work with live musicians.  If you’re a quick study, you can come to our final 2 classes to see how the dance works in conjunction with the singing and guitar.  Students can use their class card.  Just come and check it out!

Arts Umbrella - Sunday Performance Series

April 10 at 3:30pm

 

Several Sundays a year, Arts Umbrella performs new and innovative works-in-progress by a number of Canada’s leading choreographers.  Each program also features the work of guest artists from the Vancouver dance community.  On Sunday April 10, Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre will be a featured guest company with Kasandra “La China”.  Check it out in Studio 108, Arts Umbrella, Granville Island, 3:30 pm.  Performance is free to public.

 

 

“Feria de Abril” – Party at Oscar’s!

To celebrate spring, come out to our Feria de Abril POR FIESTA PARTY at Oscar Nieto’s studio at 1807 East 11th Avenue.  All flamenco students, musicians and community members invited!  Bring your flamenco shoes, your singing voices and your palmas.  This is kid friendly.  Please bring a potluck dish and BYOB!  This is your chance to join our flamenco village, do some tangos, bulerias, sevillanas and whatever else may transpire!

 

NEW Children and Teen Flamenco Dance Classes start on April 30 for 8 weeks.

 

The Children and Teen Spring Flamenco dance session starts on April 30 for 8 weeks until the end of June.   Register now!  Tuition is $100 (includes HST).  Children and Teens will complete a bulerias choreography for performance at the end of June. More info

 

 

FREE 10:30am-12:00pm Saturday “Crazy about Bulerias” classes resume April 30

 

Our free bulerias por fiesta classes on  Saturday mornings 10:30am-12:00pm start up again on Saturday April 30th.  Kasandra “La China” teaches new bulerias cante (song).  Join us for an informative and integrated lesson that includes palmas, cante and cajon!  Join our flamenco village, bring some breakfast, get some coffee and learn a little more about bulerias from Jerez de la Frontera.
