We are Crazy about Bulerias at Mozaico Flamenco!
At Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy, we know how to party! Bulerias por Fiesta, a traditional gypsy party dance from Jerez de la Frontera is a spontaneous expression of joy as it means to "joke or jest"!
As dancers are inspired by the cante (song), flamenco dance becomes a jazz interplay between guitarist, singer, dancer and palmas (handclapping)! Bulerias requires knowledge about compas (time), soniquete (groove), how to communicate within the group and ultimately this all leads to spontaneous improvisation!
Here are some Bulerias photos from our June concert "El Jaleo"! Enjoy!
If you are inspired, check out our summer "Crazy about Bulerias" Workshop July 27-29!
"El Jaleo"
June 28, 2011

Real flamenco is a cuadro where the dancer plays off the singer and guitar!

This is the Bulerias Back Up Crew of all time, as we feature Oscar Nieto, Kasandra "La China", all our teachers, Jafelin Helten (cante), Gerardo Alcala (guitar) and our new cante club! Ole!

Our brave flamenco soloists, Rachel, Cynthia, Nancy and Tracy perform at the Shadbolt Theatre for the Arts!

Katalina Cruz dances Bulerias almost 7 months pregnant!

Estilo de Mujer Class finishes off the Bulerias with a pyrotechnic display of footwork!
