Join us for a new Introduction to Flamenco Dance series during the month of July. We spend 45 minutes on technique and 45 minutes on learning Sevillanas, regional folk dance from Seville! Sevillanas is comprised of four short dances or "coplas". We will learn Copla #3! NO previous experience is necessary.

Join us for a new Introduction to Castanet series during the month of August. We spend 45 minutes on castanet technique skills and 45 minutes on learning to accompany Sevillanas, regional folk dance from Seville! NO previous experience is necessary.
We have 10 pairs of school castanets for newcomers to borrow for the class. The first 10 people to register will be able to reserve these castanets.

BEGINNER TECHNIQUE BOOTCAMP
Thursday August 5, 12, 19, 26 from 7:30-9:00pm
4 consecutive classes $80 (Drop In $25)
This overall technique class includes 45 minutes footwork, 15 minutes turning, 30 minutes body coordination using 12 compas palos such as Solea, Solea por Bulerias & Alegrias.

BEGINNER FOOTWORK BOOTCAMP
Sunday August 9, 15, 22, 29 from 12:00-1:30pm
4 consecutive classes $80 (Drop In $25)
This footwork bootcamp focuses on footwork technique through drills and repetition. We also address various questions regarding turns.

INTERMEDIATE BOOTCAMP: Footwork & Estilo de MujerSaturday August 7, 14, 21, 28 from 12:00-1:30pm
4 consecutive classes $80 (Drop In $25)
This intermediate bootcamp includes 45 minutes footwork and 45 minutes of Estilo de Mujer, styles for women, including upper body, torso, posture, hips and floreo.

AUGUST FLAMENCO WORKSHOPS 2010

Wed. Thurs. Fri. August 11, 12, 13, Level I - 6:00 to 7:30 - Level II - 7:30 to 9:00 PM.
Saturday & Sunday August 14 & 15: Level I - 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM - Level II -12:00 PM to 1:30.
Class content: Level I (Beginner/Inter.) Footwork boot-camp and upper body technique. Participants must have a basic understanding of 4/4 & 12/8 compas.
Class content: Level II (Intermediate/Advanced) How to create your own flamenco choreography. What are the elements that make up a flamenco dance? What are the different palos (dance forms)? What is the language the dancer needs to communicate with the singer and guitarist?
Daytime classes at Casa Nieto:

Dates & times:

Cante, palmas, jaleo: 10:30 to 12:00 PM.
Castanets: Beginner - 12:00 PM to 1:30.
Fees: Includes guitarist where applicable.
One course: $150.
Two courses: $270.
